“best Work From Home Business”
what are the best (most serious & reliable)agencies that fight scams ?
I’m interested in “work from home” or “homebased businesses” but ALL seem scams, even the so-called agencies on internet that fight scams look like a scam themselves.
I’d like to find a list of reliable agencies, preferably from USA Government, with lists of scams and what’s MOST important, with lists of LEGIT oportunities….is there such a place ??
FTC – Federal Trade Commission
BBB – can be spotty but better than nothing.
The problem is, it’s simple for a scammer to change names, addresses etc so the agencies are already a step behind.
The real answer is common sense and lots of research, from multiple, independent, competing sources.
Example: when all the “get rich with affiliate marketing” stuff started popping up, I was interested, so I looked into it. I read the sales letters for the various products, signed up for the teleseminars, got the free e-books, but I also did my own research – I hit the discussion forums where people were asking questions, I actually spent a few bucks (less than $100) to open a couple of accounts and webpages, and started seeing what’s really involved. Not to pick on this business, because it can be a legitimate way to make money, but I decided it wasnt for me.
And actually, it wasn’t around then but Yahoo Answers is a good place to check out an offer.
Here are some rules of thumb I’ve developed:
1) It ain’t new. Somebody has already done it, somewhere, and this guy is simplre re-packaging and selling at a high price with a better sales campaign. Go find the other guy.
2) If it’s $495 for an internet kit, there’s probably a $14.95 book on the subject that you can get at the library (use interlibrary loan). Sure it may be a bit out of date or incomplete, but you’ll get the basics to check it out. There may even be a free ebook or site that gives away enough detail to get you started. So don’t buy the first thing that comes along.
3) If it involves selling “how to make money” information, you should look for people using the same or similar system to sell real stuff to regular people.
Here’s the good news: no, there’s not a master list of legit opportunities… though that might be a good business! But there definitely are way more legit opportunities than you or I could ever hope to get started in, so just pick one you like and work it hard.
