“get Leads”
What elements does lead “not get along with”?
It’s for my science project. So which elements don’t get along with lead or produce bad things? 
Elements are like people, because they do have likes and dislikes!
When you get up to really advanced chemistry we classify Lewis acids and bases (electron pair acceptors or donors) as either hard or soft. One of the important criteria for determining hardness and softness is ease of polarizability which means how easy is it to push the valence electrons around on the acid or base. A hard anion (base) is F-: very difficult to distort the e- cloud on F! A soft anion is I- where the e- are easily distorted.
It is found that hard acids prefer hard bases and soft acids prefer soft bases (HSAB theory)

Pb^2+ is a soft acid (e- pair acceptor) and prefers soft ligands such as I- (e.g., [PbI4]^2- is stable) and S^2- (PbS Ksp =3×10-28). On the bad side, lead binds tightly to the S atoms in proteins disrupting their function. Hence why lead salts are poisonous.
On the other hand Pb^2+ doesn’t like water that has a hard O donor atom (most lead salts are insoluble) or F- e.g., [PbF4]^2- doesn’t exist
