In this industry, everyone is looking for top quality MLM leads. Buying leads is very costly and it is Not duplicatable. To build your future and your fortune in MLM or any other business, you’ve got to look at the long-term. Of course you want to plan to be profitable as quickly as possible. But you need to plan for how you wil build your business week after week, month after month, year after year.
People tell you they aren’t looking for “get rich quick,” but if they aren’t making fistfuls of money within 6-8 weeks, they are history. It may take a lot longer. People start their MLM business without a great networking database from their past. To build in MLM, you must have a database, so that means you have to create a new group of people who know,like and trust you. You can’t do that overnight.
First thing you need is to build trust with well-targeted prospects. You do that by giving them value, something that costs you nothing or very little, but which is very valuable to the person you give it to. This may be an ebook or audio or video or some other piece of content which will really help out your prospects. In exchange, you get their contact information and permission to talk with them. As Humphrey Bogart said in “Casablanca,” that “could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship!”
Network marketing is like anything else you do in life. If you want to achieve more than you have so far, especially in an area that is new to you, you are not going to do it in a straight line. There will always be some setbacks and bumps in the road. So just be aware of that and be prepared to handle the frustrations.
The best way I’ve found to do this is to have a really, really big reason to be successful. The bigger your reason, the tougher it will be for you to give up when times get tough. As you’re getting started, it’s crucial to picture your reason and write it out and look at it and think about it every day.
Ask yourself some questions. What gets you most excited? What kind of work have you loved – or hated? Is there some type of work you’d do forever, even if you weren’t getting paid for it? What’s your perfect way to spend your free time? When you’re very successful, what changes will you make in your lifestyle? How do you handle close relationships now, and are you in the best possible position to create those relationships the way you want them to be? How would you change those relationships if you had no money problems? Would you devote more time to spend with the people you love if you didn’t have to commute to a job every day? Answering questions like these will help motivate you to MLM success.
In 2004, 30-year MLMer, Michael Dlouhy, wrote “Success In 10 Steps”. The ideas in this article come from that book, which details the reasons so many people fail in network marketing.
One of the most interesting reasons is that some companies have chosen a compensation plan that greatly rewards a few people, and pays virtually nothing to the 99% of reps looking to build a business part-time to achieve their dreams. The idea is that if you can promote a few people who get 6-figure or 7-figure monthly paychecks, that will lure a lot of people into the business. But you still only have a certain amount of money to divide. And the more the heavy hitters get, the less there is for everybody else.
