“work Home Business Internet”
How can I check out an internet “work at home” business?
I responded to an email re: “Paid Surveys At Home” which claims to have a way to take surveys from companies and get paid for it. I am receiving emails from them now, wanting me to enroll with them. I want to know how I can find out more info about companies like these. Thanks
So many people are looking for legitimate work at home that Paid Survey sites have begun sprounting like fungus ALL over the place.
While you SHOULD NOT have to pay any company for the opportunity to work at home, PAID SURVEY companies are a wee bit different. This is because you are paying to GAIN ACCESS to their database of companies that offer paid surveys.
I’ll give you an example to help you understand. You see, it’s sort of like if you decided to find ALL the babysitters in the country and list them in a directory (contact into, age, education level, availabillity etc). Your options would be to :
- offer all your information for free (why would you do that after putting in so much hard work to compile the information in the first place right?).
or
- charge the general public a small fee to gain special access to your information.
I would bet that 90% of you would choose to charge a small fee correct? That’s the way it is with Paid Survey companies.
Now… the HUGE problem with scam Paid Survey “sites” is that it’s soooo easy to create a “crappy” database of companies and sell it to the public as a genuine goldmine of opportunity. A crappy database would be one that includes non-existent companies, old companies that have ceased to operate, broken links, links to MORE paid survey sites (this is VERY COMMON), links to old surveys etc. In fact ANYONE can create a “Paid Survey database” in a couple of days if they just scour the internet.
Remember, if you do pay to join ANY paid survey site, chances are you WILL gain access to a database. It’s just a matter of WHAT percentage of crap is included in that database. So practice due diligence before you part with your money :
- Do a search (on ALL search engines) for the Paid Survey site that you are thinking of joining + the word “scam”. If it’s really a scam and people have been burned by it, chances are it will surface in a review or article of some sort.
- Participate in work-at-home or money making forums. Read, search and ask questions. A friendly warning though…. such forums themselves contain a huge amount of ads and people plugging scams. Just put on your “common sense” hat and you should be fine.
- Contact the site in question and ask to speak to a support or sales rep. Ask for an address and try to track down if it is a real address. Ask if there is a money-back guarantee. Just ask any question that would put any doubts to rest.
- Visit the Better Business Bereau site (http://www.bbb.org) to check out if there are any complaints lodged against any company or site.
I’ve been there before and I can understand that circumstances (sudden job loss or income source) can make us very vulnerable to easy online money making opportunities. I hope you will just apply lots of common sense when you make any decision.
